Here you will find information on upcoming events that may be of interest to the partners of the Africa Campaign.
The 3rd general meeting of the Africa Campaign on HIV and Disability took place two days before the ICASA conference (International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa), which was held in Dakar between 3 and 7 December 2008. Around one hundred people took part in the general meeting, which was organised by Handicap International and the African Decade for People with Disabilities. The many discussions held at the meeting revealed that the HIV and disability projects set up by the various partners differed significantly between each country, underlining the importance of sharing and disseminating good practices.
The success of the Africa Campaign on HIV and Disability helped raise the profile of people with disabilities during the ICASA conference. The partners of the Africa Campaign reminded those taking part in the ICASA conference of the importance of promoting access to AIDS campaigns, and care for people with disabilities. The conference gave a voice to people with disabilities, who often lack visibility at major conferences.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in the Africa Campaign as well as the partners and donors who contributed to the success of the Dakar conference.
